Thomas Clarkson, slavery abolitionist (1760-1846). This mezzotint portrait was made by Charles Turner (1773-1857) sometime between 1810 and 1824.
Clarkson is sitting at a table holding a quill pen with writing materials and an inkstand on the table. Articles of African manufacture including weapons are depicted, as is a map of Africa. A bust of Granvil (sic) Sharp adorns the mantlepiece.
