'Oliver claimed by his affectionate friends'. One of a collection of 24 engravings by George Cruikshank from Charles Dickens's "Oliver Twist", originally published in 'Bentley's Miscellany'. Bentley brought Dickens and Cruikshank together to work on his magazine and after Dickens' death Cruikshank claimed to have suggested the story to Dickens with a view to producing illustrations that emulated Hogarth's 'Industry and Idleness'.
