The Serpentine Restaurant in Hyde Park was designed by architect Patrick Gwynne and opened in 1964. A canopy of interlocking concrete blocks and glass pyramid plant houses on the roof gave the restaurant its distinctive look. People could eat and drink in the outdoor space looking out to the park. The restaurant was extended twice, but was demolished in 1989.
