Westminster Election scene outside St. Paul's, Covent Garden. Watercolour drawing. The candidates for this election were John Horne Tooke (1736-1812), Admiral Sir Alan Garner and Charles James Fox. Women canvassers mingle in the crowd wearing favours on their bonnets - "Fox for ever". The poll lasted 15 days and the final votes were Tooke = 2819, Gardner = 4814, Fox = 5160. The latter two were both elected. The board probably shows the state of the poll on the last day, Monday 13th June.
