Sea Side Sketches No. 3, Morning Exercise. An etching depicting a group of bathers in the waves. The young female bathers are clad in full-length bathing dresses and enter the water from wheeled changing room, known as bathing machines. A mature woman acts as an assistant and chaperone. Sea bathing was popularly believed to be medically beneficial in Georgian times and led to the development of numerous sea-side resorts.
