A German steam coaster, the 'Badenia', tugs and lighters lying at the Hibernia Wharves. Lighters not only brought foodstuffs here, from the lower docks, but also receive cargoes, from coasters, for delivery further up-river. On two of the barges can be seen the large 'sweeps' or oars, used to propel these craft, when tugs were not being used.
