Free morning milk at Courtland Primary School, Mill Hill. These children, aged between four and five, enjoyed their free morning milk at Courtland Primary School, Mill Hill. In 1946 the School Milk Act enabled a third of a pint of milk to be given daily to each schoolchild under 18 years old. In 1971, Margaret Thatcher became known as 'milk snatcher' after, as Secretary of State for Education, she abolished free milk for those aged over seven years.
