Labour Party May Day rally in Hyde Park. The main speaker at the Labour Party May Day meeting in Hyde Park was Harold Wilson. His speech was interrupted repeatedly by calls of 'Ban the Bomb!' from the crowd. Opposition to nuclear weapons testing and the H-bomb (hydrogen bomb) was strong. Some weeks earlier, tens of thousands had gathered in London for the third 'Aldermaston' march, organised by the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (C.N.D.), to the Atomic Weapons Research Establishment at Aldermaston in Berkshire.
