English Castle at Anamabou. Fort at Anomabu, Gold Coast. The factory at Anomabu was established by the Royal Africa Company in 1679 to trade in slaves and gold with the Akani people. It was fortified in 1681 but temporarily captured in an attack by the Anomabu people in 1701. At the beginning of the 18th century it became a focus for trade with the Ashanti people before being demolished by the British in 1731.
