The Ratcatcher's Daughter. Song sheet cover for "The Ratcatcher's Daughter" composed and sung by Sam Cowell. The cover has a black and white illustration of a ragged rat catcher surrounded by a motif of rats. Sam Cowell (1820–64) was one of London's first music-hall stars. He was brought up in America where his father performed as a comedian. Sam Cowell made his name as a singer, especially through songs such as The Ratcatcher's Daughter and Vilikins and his Dinah. He performed these songs at the Canterbury Music Hall to great acclaim.
