St Katherine's Hospital, Regent's Park. The topographical artist Thomas Hosmer Shepherd was commissioned to make drawings of John Nash's Regent Street and Regent's Park. Some of his fine and detailed pencil and wash drawings were engraved to illustrate James Elmes' Metropolitan Improvements (1827). They give an excellent impression of the varied scale and character of the new development. His views range from elevations of commercial and retailing buildings in Regent's Street to the picturesque and grand structures in and around Regent's Park.
