Wharf at Billingsgate. Fishing boats discharging at Billingsgate Wharf. Around London Bridge and the Monument, it was claimed you could smell your way to Billingsgate. Small fishing smacks delivered vast quantities of fish each day to the dock at Billingsgate. Further fish came overland to the market.
