Mutton on a conveyor in a ship's hold. Inside the hold of a ship from Australia, John Avery photographed meat porters working to unload this cargo of mutton. Frozen meat was stored at 10-15? Fahrenheit in the ship. Mutton and lamb from Australia and New Zealand had to be frozen because of the long journey time. This meat from New South Wales and the crates of butter were taken along conveyor belts to the sorting chamber.
