This photograph of a street scene shows workers hurrying to and from their daily business in the City's financial headquarters around the Bank of England and Threadneedle Street. At the beginning of the century, the area was the hub of financial control in London, the nation, the British Empire and beyond.
John Galt was a missionary with the London City Mission and an amateur photographer and this is one of many images he captured to show the work of the mission as it worked to spread the word of God.
