Tolmers Square housing protest. Tolmers Square residents campaign against Camden Council, August 1979. A high-profile campaign to re-house the local residents of Tolmers Square lasted 17 years. The Georgian houses surrounding the square were threatened with demolition, and the residents with eviction, to make way for office property developments. The campaigning involved tenants, squatters and community groups against Camden Council. This terrace was eventually demolished, as was the original square, but the original office development plans were scaled down.
