Back view of embroidered net dress with court train. The dress has a separate bodice and skirt. The three-dimensional bellflowers are made using silk-covered wire and net ornamented with silk thread. The tiny bellflowers scattered over the net were also handmade, stamped out of thin card and wrapped with matching silk thread. Long trains were usual in dresses intended for formal court functions. Their length emphasised the status of the wearer.
