Stock Jobbers. A preliminary sketch for the finished watercolour in the possession of the Bank of England. Groups of caricatured stockjobbers bargain and make deals in the Bank of England rotunda, which was used as a stockmarket from 1770 to 1838. On the right a beadle in uniform holds a silver-headed staff and waves his watchman's rattle.
