'Southwark Fair', Dec/Jan 1733-34 - depicting the 'Lady Fair' held in September in the vicinity of the old church of St George the Martyr at Newington, the tower of which with its wooden belfry is seen in the background with a Union flag flying from a pole. In the background is open country, with a field of small booths and entertainments closer to the church. On the left a platform on which a play was being performed (a poster proclaims: "Cibber & Bullock: The Fall of Bajazet") has just given way and the actors are being preciptated to the ground. Above the falling platform is a banner depicting and entitled "The Stage Mutiny" featuring Colley Cibber.
