Covent Garden Market. An oil painting showing the early morning bustle of Covent Garden (St Paul's church clock shows 5 o'clock). The view is taken from James Street on the north side of the piazza, looking south to the market building. On the left is the Tavistock Hotel and opposite stands a public house. The crowd is a mix of workers and customers and includes, on the left, a potato seller and a flower seller and on the right a blind black man.
