Hot Codlins. Watercolour. A large woman in ragged clothing and men's boots carries a green parasol under her arms and a basket on her head containing a lighted brazier. Joseph Grimaldi, the clown, sang a popular song called 'Hot Codlins' that concerned an old lady who sold roast apples and drank too much gin.
