Full image caption

Buckingham Palace from the north east at night. George Davison Reid photographed Buckingham Palace floodlit, the landmark residence of King George V and Queen Mary. The composition includes the great memorial, which was built following the death of Queen Victoria in 1901. George Reid produced a number of images at night, making use of the increasingly reliable and more sensitive photographic materials available.
