Whitehall looking North with Home Office on the left. George Davison Reid photographed this view, looking north down Whitehall, of the Home Office and the Cenotaph. The memorial, designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens, was originally built in wood and plaster for the Allied Victory Parade of 19 July 1919. Due to popular demand it was replaced by this permanent Portland stone version a year later.
