Looking across the River Thames towards Millbank. George Davison Reid took this photo from the Vauxhall foreshore looking across the River Thames towards Millbank and the National Gallery (Tate Britain). By the 1930s Millbank was being seen as London's new office quarter. Reid lived over the river at 51 Grosvenor Road, which later became part of Millbank. The sailing barges are probably lying off Brown's Flour Mills. This was one of eight working wharves immediately to the east of Vauxhall Bridge. Reid photographed the banks of the Thames extensively during the late 1920s and early 30s.
