BBC studio armchair. This steel and leather chair was designed for the new headquarters of the BBC at Portland Place was designed by Russian émigré Serge Ivan Chermayeff. The chair has a tubular steel frame and a black leather covered seat. At the time, Chermayeff was one of England's best-known modernist designers and architects. He emigrated to America in 1940.
