View of the Thames, Blackfriars Bridge and the City. A panorama from the site of Waterloo Bridge (built 1811-17) by Amelia Long, later Lady Farnborough, in the style of Girtin who taught her. To the right is Watt's Shot Tower described in 1791 as 'a new structure... which cost near six thousand pounds, but cannot be considered as an object ornamental to the river Thames'. It was demolished in 1937.
