A Yost typewriter. First produced circa 1881. It was in a category commonly referred to either as 'upstrike,' or 'blind-writer,' as the typing actually occurs on the bottom of the platen, and thus is invisible to the operator. It has a double keyboard and removable ink pad. The Yost Writing Machine Company, of Bridgeport, USA, had a London office at 50 Holborn Viaduct.
