The Industrious Fleas. A handbill announcement of an exhibition to be held at the Cosmorama Rooms, 209 Regent Street in June 1836. The performers to be entirely composed of fleas. London offered an unparalleled variety of weird and wonderful spectacles. Performing creatures of all kinds were popular, including diving horses and singing mice. In 1833 a troupe of trained fleas enacted the siege of Antwerp with cannon the size of pins.
