Amber and silk fan. This fan has amber sticks, with sequins set on the left one, and a design of watercolour irises on silk; it is signed I. Gerard. The reverse is plain with a crown and cipher of Helena Victoria. The firm of Duvelleroy was established in Paris in 1827 and became noted for its exceptional fan painting; by the late nineteenth century had an extensive international export business.
