Length of fabric printed with repeat pattern of a scene of the Battle of Britain. Printed in red, blue, green,yellow and black. The fabric edged has a band decorated with broken vertical lines. The central image depicts squadrons of aeroplanes flying over central London with several aircraft involved in battle and some shot down in flames. The skyline depicts famous London landmarks such as St Paul's, The Tower and Tower Bridge. The foreground shows the city as a bombsite with broken walls, trees, columns and bricks strewn around. The fabric has a thick border with diamond shaped pendants which is edged with a band of greek key pattern from which protrudes a row of aeroplane bodies. The border at the top depicts aerial views of planes flying above a landscape. Its pendants depict anti-aircraft baloons. The lower border shows a graveyard of crashed planes in clouds of smoke with the pendants depicting anti-aircraft guns shooting from sandbagged defences.
