'Spring' from Hollar's series 'The Four Seasons' 1643-44. A fashionably dressed woman carries a bunch of tulips in her right hand. The craze for the flower was at its height at that time. The house and garden in the background remain unidentified, possibly Tart Hall, residence of the Countess of Arundel. 'Spring' is from Hollar's series 'The Four Seasons', executed during his first period in England from 1643 to 1644, when he was in the service of the Earl of Arundel.
