French hooped silk brocade dress. The dress comprises a robe with matching stomacher and underskirt, executed in green brocade, trimmed with gold thread and 'plastic' ornaments. The robe is cut for wide side-hoops and a sack back. The front edges are decorated with ruched and padded trimming; the skirt front elaborately trimmed with similar decoration and matching tassels. The sleeves feature falling cuffs. The wide side-hoops and the lavish nature of the fabric and the trimming, probably indicate Court wear.
