Chelsea Pensioners. In-Pensioners of The Royal Hospital, Chelsea, reading the newspapers in the Great Hall. They are wearing their blue undress uniforms, not their familiar scarlet coats and tricorne hats. The Royal Hospital was founded in 1682 by King Charles II as a home for old or wounded soldiers.
