Elevated view of the Aylesbury Estate, Walworth. London's largest social housing scheme, the Aylesbury estate, Walworth, was built for Southwark Borough Council to provide accommodation for the borough's most deprived. Work began on the prefabricated designs in 1965, and 2,127 housing units were constructed. Most of the one- or two-bed homes exist in long, 14-storey slab blocks, one of which is photographed here.
