The Women's Exhibition was held at Princes' Skating Rink, Knightsbridge, on 13-26 May 1909. To attract attention to the event and in honour of Lifeboat Saturday held at the time, Miss Barbara Ayrton wore the costume of a fisher girl to play the role of the lifeboat heroine, Grace Darling. Members of the Women's Social and Political Union and supporters of the suffragist movement publicised the exhibition and political views through a grand procession.
