Mounted colour postcard of the Japan - British Exhibition. The postcard is entitled 'Court of Honour (at night)'. The Court of Honour was the centrepiece of White City. It was 400 feet (over 120 metres) long and surrounded by Oriental and Indian-style exhibition pavilions. In the centre was a lake, spanned by a bridge. At night 100,000 lights illuminated the court. At one end was the impressive Congress Hall with its spectacular waterfall: the great cascade was lit by concealed coloured lights that gave the impression of water of one colour flowing over water of another.
