The Middlesex Hospital. This is one of a group of three postcards posted by Bert, an in-patient at Middlesex Hospital during 1910, to his sister Dora in Shoesburyness, Essex. This postcard show the outside of the hospital. Bert's note says how pleased he was to receive Dora's flowers (though he notes they arrived crushed), and how disappointed he is that doctors are often too busy to visit his ward every day. All large London hospitals produced similar postcards: they promoted hospital services and facilities and were used to by patients to write to friends and family.
