Edward Gerrard is working to preserve this animal skeleton. His father, Edward Gerrard Senior, founded Edward Gerrard & Son's taxidermy firm at 61 College Place, Camden. He had been resident taxidermist at the British Museum and was a friend to Charles Darwin. Animals were buried in the premises' garden and the skeletons later retrieved. At the Festival of Britain, three months after this photo was taken, Gerrard's exhibited a life-sized model of a giant sloth.
