Votes for Women. Front view of an admission ticket to the Hyde Park demonstration organised by the Women's Social and Political Union on Sunday 21st June 1908. Printed in the purple, white and green horizontal stripes of the WSPU with writing 'Votes for Women Procession from Victoria Embankment to Hyde Park Assembles 12-30pm Starts 1-30pm. The reverse is printed with details of the demonstration. This 'monster meeting' brought suffragettes from all over the UK to march in seven processions through London to Hyde Park. Although no official figures were taken, the event attracted more than 250,000 people. As suggested on the back of this admission ticket, a bugle call sounded at five o'clock in time for the suffragettes' resolution 'That this meeting calls upon the Government to give the vote to women without delay' to be decreed.
