This local West Indian congregation has gathered on a Sunday morning for services at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Holloway Road. Before the arrival of the S.S. Windrush and mass-immigration from the Caribbean in the 1950s, the Adventist Church congregation was predominantly White, and had around 7,000 members. By the end of the century membership had reached 20,000 and was predominantly Black. To raise the Church's profile, Holloway's activities leader Arthur Torrington posted adverts on London buses during the 1970s.
