'Dey Time Register' manufactured by Howard Bros. This time register consists of a clock mounted in a wooden frame. It was used by the firm of J.D.Link and Son Ltd, provision merchants and bacon smokers of Cowcross Street, Smithfield. Many private companies set a six-day working week and long working hours. Timekeeping was rigorously enforced and workers had to clock their arrival and departure times on machines such as this one.
