Tinplate mechanical penny toy ferris wheel. This toy Ferris wheel was made by toy manufacturer Johann Phillip Meier in Nuremburg. Tinplate toys representing fairground attractions were popular in the early 20th century and were mass-produced by German toy manufacturers. This toy is one of many collected by Ernest King over a 25 year period. He bought over 1,700 toys and novelties from London street vendors, listing each item in a notebook. This one was bought on 30 April 1910.
