The Annunciation right panel. Oil on oak. Panel painting, right wing of a triptych or altarpiece depicting the Annunciation. Painted on oak panel, with original frame. The panel has two recesses for hinges on the left edge. There are remains of a protruding strip down the right edge, which probably served to exclude dust when the panels were closed. The right side painting depicts the Virgin Mary standing facing half-left, on an octagonal stone plinth in grisaille. Behind the figure is a hanging cloth of gold, stamped and gilded gesso, with a green border either side. The Virgin's fair hair hangs loose and she is wearing a blue tight-waisted dress with white cuffs and a brown girdle. The toe of one shoe is showing below the skirt and over it there is a red cloak fastened by a pair of gold brooches. The Virgin Mary is reading a book which she holds in her right hand. On the front of the plinth is a shield with heraldry.
