Lower palaeolithic flint hand-axe

image details

Full image caption
Bifacially worked, pointed biface or hand-axe, of sharp stained flint. Some cortex left on the butt and the tip is broken. Part of a group of flint tools said to have come from the site of the Regent Palace Hotel, Glasshouse St, Piccadilly. The unusually fresh condition of this example suggests that it must have lain close to where it had been dropped by the last user.
